In this case instituted by the Grandmothers of the Plaza de Mayo, the Federal Court on Criminal Matters No. 6 of the City of Buenos Aires considered the "systematic and widespread practice of abduction, retention, and concealment of minors, rendering their identity uncertain, altered, or suppressed” duly proven. The court also upheld that in the cases of abducted people who have not yet recovered their identity, the crime continues to be committed up to the present day. Jorge Rafael Videla was sentenced to serve a fifty-year prison term, along with eight other members of the repressive apparatus who were sentenced to serve prison terms ranging from ten to forty years; and a civilian woman was convicted of abduction. In 2014, a trial was held for the kidnapping of the babies who were born in the clandestine maternity ward that used to operate in Campo de Mayo between 1976 and 1978. During this trial, both military personnel and physicians were sentenced.
