The clandestine nature of the repression and the perpetrators' refusal to provide information were obstacles hindering judicial investigation of such crimes. Within this context, the testimony of survivors and the gradual opening and declassification of state archives in the country and overseas, hand in hand with forensic science and other reconstruction resources, were critical to proving events.
