Conviction for the Death Flights

In early December 1976, the bodies of Rosa Eugenia Novillo Corvalán, Adrián Enrique Accrescimbeni, and Juan Carlos Rosace were found on the beach in Magdalena, in the province of Buenos Aires. The body of Roberto Ramón Arancibia appeared on the beach in Las Toninas in February 1978. All four had been held captive at El Campito clandestine detention center in Campo de Mayo, in the province of Buenos Aires, and were victims of the death flights.

The trial addressing these events began in 2020. The investigation reconstructed what had happened based on witness statements —including several conscripts— and the documents obtained from the Armed Forces archives. Four members of the repressive structure were sentenced to life imprisonment. They were Santiago Omar Riveros, head of Campo de Mayo Military Institutes; Luis del Valle Arce, battalion commander; and second commander, Delsis Ángel Malacalza; and former operations officer Eduardo María Lance.
